Snakeoff's Quest · Fine Stimuli
Privacy Policy
Effective 17 August 2026. Applies to Snakeoff's Quest on iOS, Android, itch.io, and this website.
The short version. The game does not know who you are. There is no account, no login, and no personal information collected — not your name, not your email, not your contacts, not your location, not an advertising identifier. Your save file lives on your device. The game sends back anonymous numbers about how it is being played, and one switch in the menu turns that off for good.
What is stored on your device
Your save — level, gold, bag, gear, skill tree, bestiary, and settings — is written to your device's local storage and stays there. It is never uploaded. If you delete the app or clear the site's data, the save goes with it. The game has an export function so you can keep your own backup file; where that file goes is entirely up to you.
What is sent back, and why
Snakeoff's Quest carries anonymous product telemetry. It exists for one reason: to learn how the game is actually played so the next one is better. It is switched on by default and disclosed here.
Two small messages are sent per play session — one when you start, one when you stop. They contain:
- A random install ID — a string of characters generated on first launch and stored beside your save. It is not derived from anything about you or your device.
- The build version of the game, the platform (iOS, Android, web), a device model string (for example "iPhone14,2"), and whether you are playing in portrait or landscape, with touch or a keyboard.
- Gameplay facts: which areas you visited, which dungeons you entered and how those runs ended, levels reached, gold earned and spent, items equipped and sold, skills chosen, how long the session lasted, and where you were when you stopped.
- Frame timing and, if the game hits an error, the error message — so a crash on a device we do not own is visible before it becomes a review.
What is never collected
- No name, email address, phone number, or account of any kind.
- No advertising identifier (no IDFA, no IDFV, no Android Advertising ID) and no device fingerprinting.
- No location data, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera. The game asks for no permissions.
- No IP addresses in our analytics. IP collection is disabled at the source; your address is not stored with the numbers above.
Under Apple's App Privacy definitions this is Product Interaction, Not Linked To You, and not used for tracking. There is no advertising in Snakeoff's Quest and none is planned. Nothing collected is sold, rented, or shared for anyone else's marketing.
Turning it off
Open the menu with X, find the telemetry toggle, and switch it off. Nothing further is sent from that moment on, and the setting sticks across sessions and updates. The game plays identically either way — no feature is gated behind it, and you will not be asked again.
Who processes it
The anonymous numbers are processed by PostHog, an analytics provider, on our behalf. This website is served by Cloudflare, which — like any web host — handles the network requests needed to deliver a page to your browser. We do not run advertising networks, social widgets, or third-party trackers on this site.
Payments
Snakeoff's Quest is free. On the App Store and Google Play, the endgame — the Watch — can be unlocked once for 99c. That purchase is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your payment details, and no card information ever reaches us or the game. On itch.io and on this website, the Watch is free and there is nothing to buy.
Children
The game is suitable for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Your choices
Because nothing collected identifies a person, there is no personal record of you for us to look up, correct, export, or delete. If you want the data associated with your install to stop at once, switch the telemetry toggle off. If you want your local save gone, delete the app or clear this site's data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes with it and the change is described in the release notes.
Contact
Questions about any of this reach a real person on the Snakeoff's Quest community board, publicly or privately. Everything on the support page applies here too.
